BLM Issues OHV Route Closures in West Mojave Desert

In response to a federal court order it receive in January 2026, the BLM has closed approximately 2,200 miles of OHV routes in designated Desert Tortoise Critical Habitat in the western Mojave Desert for OHV Recreation. Trail Capacity Program Award

Friends of El Mirage is excited to announce the support of American Trails and Bronco Wild Fund through the 2025 Trails Capacity Program. FOEM has received a grant in the amount of $9,956 to assist in the maintenance, signing and removal of old boundary fencing within the 2019 Congressionally designated Expansion Area inside the El Mirage OHV Recreation Area. Along with our partner, the Roughwheelers 4-Wheel Drive Club, Friends of El Mirage will work to remove nearly one mile of fence line that marked the old boundary of the OHV area.
