Friends of El Mirage Announces a Funding Award from the Trail Capacity Program

Published: September 3, 2025.

Friends of El Mirage is excited to announce the support of American Trails and Bronco Wild Fund through the 2025 Trails Capacity Program. FOEM has received a grant in the amount of $9,956 to assist in the maintenance, signing and removal of old boundary fencing within the 2019 Congressionally designated Expansion Area inside the El Mirage OHV Recreation Area. Along with our partner, the Roughwheelers 4-Wheel Drive Club, Friends of El Mirage will work to remove nearly one mile of fence line that marked the old boundary of the OHV area.

American Trails and Bronco Wild Fund’s support will allow FOEM to remove the dangers posed by old fencing, as well as improve access via updated route signage, for navigation to, and within, the Expansion Area. At the project’s completion in November of 2025, visitors will have greater access to OHV opportunities across the 6,000-acre Expansion Area at El Mirage.

The Trails Capacity Program is administered by American Trails and primarily funded by Bronco Wild Fund, a Ford Motor Company program dedicated to connecting people to the outdoors, responsibly. The goal of the Trails Capacity Program is to invest in building trails community capacity nationwide through research, education and stewardship.

About Ford Bronco Wild Fund
Inspired by the epic return of the legendary Ford Bronco brand, the Bronco Wild Fund is a mission with a deep respect for our public lands – and an unbridled commitment to helping those lands continue to be a world of wonder for all.

Toward that purpose, the Bronco Wild Fund is teaming up with like-minded collaborators: agencies, organizations and everyday heroes devoted to keeping the great outdoors great. We’re here to help, with grants, scholarships, contributions and an extensive dealer network. In fact, a portion of the profits from every Bronco sold goes directly to Bronco Wild Fund collaborator initiatives. Because it’s about more than just building Bronco SUVs. It’s about building a legacy of access, preservation, and stewardship from the ground up.
