The turn-out for the El Mirage Spring Cleanup was excellent. The volunteers performed many valuable services for the El Mirage area including general cleanup, Joshua Tree care and maintenance to the lake bed. A breakfast was served before the cleanup began to those who arrived early. A hamburger and hot dog lunch was served to volunteers in the afternoon.
Dani Haskell, a park patrol officer, presented a Junior Ranger Program to the children. Raffle prizes were given out and 50/50 contest was held. A group of children and their sponsors from Desert Discovery Center were in attendance to give back to the desert and help cleanup the camp area. Their help, along with the help of all other volunteers, is greatly appreciated by the Friends of El Mirage.
