BLM Issues OHV Route Closures in West Mojave Desert

In response to a federal court order it receive in January 2026, the BLM has closed approximately 2,200 miles of OHV routes in designated Desert Tortoise Critical Habitat in the western Mojave Desert for OHV Recreation. 2023 California OHV Grant Application – Public Review

The Friends of El Mirage is inviting the public to comment on its preliminary grant application to the California State Parks Off-Highway Motor Vehicle (OHMVR) Division to help manage off-highway vehicle recreation opportunities on public lands.

This year’s grant applications include funding requested for Ground Operations, Restoration, and Education projects.

The preliminary application is available on the OHMVR Division’s Website at www.ohv.parks.ca.gov for review and comment from Tuesday March 7, 2023 to May 1, 2023. The division’s website provides detailed instructions for accessing the preliminary application submitting comments. Applicant names are found in the General Application Requirements under item 3.

The OLGA (Online Grants Application) database allows the public to read preliminary applications in a centralized location and the Grants and Cooperative program allows for a public review and comment period.

This article will run from Tuesday, February 28, 2023 to May 1, 2023 to allow for public comments.
